The Boon-Naba pledges his commitment to TLGF
As part of their consultations with stake holders of Local government in the Bongo district in the Upper East region of Ghana, the
TEERE team visited the Boon-Naba’s palace. The intention was to inform the paramount chief of its flagship project, the TEERE Local Government
Forum (TLGF) and to invite him to its pilot programme scheduled to take place in June 2016 in Bongo.
The TEERE CEO, Professor Avea Nsoh, explained the TLGF concept to the Chief and his entourage and formally invited him to grace the occasion.
Professor Nsoh said the TLGF project aims at enhancing citizenship participation whiles helping to build trust between citizens and duty bearers.
According to him, the pilot project will bring together stakeholders in local government with emphasis on groups which have hitherto been excluded
from local governance. These excluded groups are women, the physically challenged, political party leadership, traditional political and spiritual
authorities, the media etc. TEERE is rolling out the project in partnership with the Robert Bosch Foundation of Germany. They are providing initial
funding for the project. The project is targeting all the 216 in Ghana. Even though the project starts with stakeholders, we are ultimately targeting the entire citizenry.
The paramount Chief was very happy to receive the TEERE team and indicated his commitment to participating and also ensuring the success of the TLGF project.
He assured the TEERE team that he will fully participate in the programme in June and perform any other role that we might assign him thereafter.
He invited the SES senior expert back to his palace the following day together with the TEERE CEO.
The TEERE team comprised of the CEO, Professor Avea Nsoh, the Principal Advisor, Gerhard Lauth, Richmond Apotiga and Avebire Asira-Soh who worked as driver and photographer.
