TEERE’s CEO Professor Avea Nsoh pays a courtesy call to the General Secretary of (NALAG) and his Team


TEERE’s CEO Professor Avea Nsoh paid a courtesy call to the General Secretary of the National Association of Local Government Authorities of Ghana (NALAG) and his team at their office in Accra. The CEO of TEERE, first of all congratulated Hon. Kokro Amankwah on his appointment as the new General Secretary. The purpose of the meeting was to build a stronger partnership going forward after a year of collaboration and to update NALAG on TEERE’s projects and activities and the role of NALAG in the successful implementation of these projects

Prof. Avea briefed General Secretary and his team on TEERE’s Local Government Forum (TLGF) supported by Robert Bosch Stiftung which would be implemented in September this year. He thanked them for their support last year during the pilot phase of the project and appealed for more support than they have in the year before.

Again, he informed them about the French Embassy Solidarity Fund which is sponsoring a project to promote transparency and accountability in the management and utilization of the 3% district assembly common fund allocated to persons with disabilities. This project is to improve local empowerment and governance. TEERE’s CEO asked for their support to facilitate our work with the selected Assemblies and also monitor the project to ensure its success.

Finally, Prof. Avea Nsoh also urged both organizations to partner in seeking funding for projects in the area of governance and the empowerment of citizenry in the country.
On his part, the General Secretary of NALAG, Hon. Kokro Amankwah was pleased to have TEERE as a partners and working together to promote good governance and citizen participation at the local government level.

He also assured TEERE of NALAG’s commitment to supporting TEERE to implement these projects successfully not just for the benefits of the citizenry but also the district assemblies.

Again, Hon. Amankwah said NALAG will even strengthen the existing partnership with TEERE in projects that seeks to promote local government in the various Assemblies across the country. He thanked TEERE for paying a visit to their offices.

The CEO, Prof. Avea Nsoh also pledged to the keep his collaborations aloft and thanked the General Secretary for the warm reception and pledged that TEERE would work to help bring an improvement in the governance in the country.
